University of ÉäÒùʪ Swears in Three New ÉäÒùʪ

Three appointees to the UM Board of ÉäÒùʪ were granted ÉäÒùʪ Senate confirmation on Feb. 3, 2005. John M. Carnahan, III, Springfield; Doug Russell, Lebanon; and David G. Wasinger, St. Louis were appointed by ÉäÒùʪ Gov. Matt Blunt on Jan. 25.

The three new members were sworn in at the Feb. 3, 2005 meeting of the Board of ÉäÒùʪ in Columbia, Mo., replacing exiting ÉäÒùʪ Sean M. McGinnis, Springfield; Mary L. James, Harrisonville; and Connie Burkhardt, St. Louis.

Carnahan, 55, is an attorney and founder of Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell & Brown, P.C. in Springfield. Carnahan graduated with a bachelor of science degree in economics from Southwest ÉäÒùʪ State University, a law degree from the University of ÉäÒùʪ-Columbia and an advanced law degree from the University of Miami. Carnahan will serve on the UM Board of ÉäÒùʪ Academic and Student Affairs Committee and the Resources and Planning Committee.

Russell, 51, is the president of the Durham Company, an electrical enclosures manufacturer in Lebanon. Russell earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of ÉäÒùʪ-Columbia. Russell previously served on the Board of ÉäÒùʪ from 1982-1987. Russell will serve on the UM Board of ÉäÒùʪ Finance and Human Resources Committee and the Physical Facilities Committee.

David Wasinger, 41, is an attorney and managing partner of Murphy Wasinger, L.C. in St. Louis. Wasinger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of ÉäÒùʪ-Columbia and a law degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law in Nashville. Wasinger will serve on the Resources and Planning Committee and the Finance and Human Resources Committee.
